Stop Reacting and Start Preventing-Site Audit and Assessment

Preventative Actions to support Safety, Compliance and Efficiency

Assentech has experienced engineers available for site audits across a range of safety and storage equipment. The initial assessment is often FREE of charge to help clients identify risks and any preventative actions to support safetycomplianceefficiency and long-term cost savings.

The storage of bulk liquids is serious business, especially where the media is a Volatile Organic Compound (VOC).

Storage tanks in refineries and chemical plants contain large volumes of flammable and hazardous chemicals. At a minimum an accident/malfunction may lead to product loss and pollution of the environment; some of the more serious consequences are risks to the health of people (including potential fatalities), devastating effects on the environment etc. leading potentially to lawsuits, sanctions, stock devaluation, company bankruptcy etc.

The Control of Emissions to the atmosphere and, importantly, hazards to personnel and surrounding areas is a responsibility that the Assentech companies take extremely seriously when supporting their customers.

Responsible business practices, as well as regulatory and environmental regulations, mandate that all plant should be inspected for damage and deterioration.  Assentech can help develop robust procedures that ensure that compliance is fully achieved.

In addition to planned formal examinations by an independent Competent Person (such as Assentech Rapid Response and Service Ltd), there should be a routine of visual inspections by operations staff to identify any obvious deterioration or damage between service visits.  Again, Assentech can offer advice on the regularity and detail required for staff.

Regulation such as The Health and Safety at Work Act etc. requires that plant and equipment ismaintained in a safe conditionStorage tanks and all associated equipment, including walls and fences, should always be properly maintained. It is important that only personnel who are suitably qualified and authorised, and who fully understand the hazards, should carry out inspection and maintenance.  Assentech can support with the minimum skills matrices that demonstrate the required competence.

Assentech provides both professional and practical support for customers who recognise the need to maintain and assess the performance of their storage tanks. From initial technical review, Assentech supplies advice on legislative compliance, refurbishment, comprehensive calibration and leakage testing of tank furniture, full documentary follow up and staff training etc.
